Post subject:  How should I take a point that there is "non-alcoholic wine"

If someone is offering you or suggesting you drink non alcoholic wine, it's most likely because they assume you do not imbibe alcohol for whatever reason. Perhaps you've previously mentioned that you do not drink alcohol or you've indicated that you enjoy drinking but have chosen to stop drinking alcohol. That would explain why someone might deliberately point out that there is non-alcoholic wine available. If you're at a restaurant and a waiter who is a complete stranger offers you non-alcoholic wine, then it's safe to assume it's just the restaurant policy to inform patrons of their extensive beverage selections. In some very rare cases, assumptions might be made about a person's religious guidelines based on appearances. If women dressed in old-timey dresses that cover their bodies from neck to ankle show up at a restaurant, the waiter may assume that such a conservative group would want non-alcoholic beverage options.
