Cash App is a subsidiary of Square, Inc., a publicly-traded financial services and mobile payment company based in San Francisco, California. Square was founded in 2009 by Jack Dorsey, who is also the co-founder and CEO of Twitter.
While Cash App may be a relatively small part of Square's business, it is one of the company's fastest-growing divisions. In the first quarter of 2020, Cash App generated $1.63 billion in revenue, up from $306 million in the same period a year earlier.
