The NBA 2K League has announced the start of NBA 2K22 MT a new tryout process in their upcoming season. It will start in 2021. The new format will comprise more than 35 Pro-Am tournaments that will be hosted and run by NBA 2K League teams. The teams that win will be featured in the League-hosted "NBA 2K League Draft Prospect Series" and the first-of-its-kind NBA 2K League Combine. It's the next step of the league's explosive growth, which NBA 2K League Managing Director Brendan Donohue, described to me on a recent conference call as "transformational". The current season, which was the third season of NBA 2K League edition, saw an enormous increase in both viewership and distribution. "Just checking apples to apple just our broadcasts on Twitch are growing by more than 70% year over year," Donohue outlines, "and after that we added numerous distributors around the world as well as ESPN 2." Live games were shown on ESPN2 and ESPN's digital platforms, Sportsnet in Canada and with delay on eGG Network in Southeast Asia and Buy MT 2K22 Loco in India and India, which marked the first broadcasts of 2K League games on linear television. |
