When we think of Halloween today, we might imagine brightly colored
costumes with leather jacket, sacks bursting to the seams with tasty food, and jack-o-lanterns smiling from the porch steps. However, Halloween has a shadier history... The ancient Celtic celebration of Samhain is supposed to be the source of Halloween. People would build bonfires and dress up in costumes to scare off wandering ghosts at this time. In fact, it was thought that Samhain was a period when fairies and spirits may more easily enter our world!
